GAZ Group and Oleg Deripaska Volnoe Delo Foundation will hold the regional festival Robofest-NN in Nizhny Novgorod on 17-18 of January. The competitions will be held for the fifth time, with the support of the Ministry of education of the Nizhny Novgorod region government and the Center for Technical Creativity and Early Professional Guidance - the Povolzhsky Center for Aerospace Education. The Festival will take place within the framework of the Volnoe Delo Foundation "Robotics: engineering and technical talents of innovative Russia" in GAZ corporate university and GAZ Palace of Culture.
More than 400 schoolchildren and students aged from 6 to 25 years old from the Nizhny Novgorod region, as well as from Moscow and St. Petersburg, will participate in RoboFest-NN. Under the aegis of GAZ Group, the teams of young students from the Company’s base and sponsored educational institutions will take part in the Festival: the regional resource center, lyceum school No. 165, Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (NSTU) named after R.E. Alekseev, GAZ Group Robotic Engineering circle. The GAZ sponsored teams annually win prizes and represent the Nizhny Novgorod region at the prestigious robotic competitions, nation- and worldwide.
The purpose of the festival is to develop the system of early career guidance through participation of schoolchildren in educational, research and engineering activities, sports and technical competitions, mastering modern engineering and technical professional competencies.
Competitions are to be held in the following areas: Hello, Robot! LEGO and Hello, Robot! OPEN; Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr. FLL), FIRST LEGO League (FLL), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC); Robocarrousel and Engineering project (projects of schoolchildren and students to address real business problems).
The Festival RoboFest-NN was organized for the first time in Nizhny Novgorod in December 2013 by GAZ Group, the Volnoe Delo Foundation and the Center for Technical Creativity and Early Professional Guidance - the Povolzhsky Center for Aerospace Education. More than 270 students and teachers representing 117 teams from Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod Region and Penza Region, Udmurtia took part in the first Festival. The second regional Festival RoboFest-NN in January 2015 was attended by 265 schoolchildren and students representing 155 teams from Nizhny Novgorod and region, the third Festival (March 2016) - 400 schoolchildren as part of 220 teams. The fourth regional Robotics Festival RoboFest-NN in January 2017 gathered 419 participants representing 200 teams from Nizhny Novgorod and region, Saint-Petersburg and Moscow.
