The Volgograd rally is, as usual, one of the most challenging in the Russian Rally Raid Championship. The teams covered 800 kilometers of hard roads in the steppe, deep sands and fast tracks in the chalk mountains in 4 days. Just 22 contestants our of 34 reached the finish line.
Vyacheslav Subbotin, Sports Director of GAZ Raid Sport:
- Rally raids are very interesting as they are not really predictable. A 4-day rally is a very big challenge as you need to take care of the vehicle and think accurately about your potential to reach the final. Serial YMZ-534 and Cummins 2.8 engines, as always, proved to be really good in the rally in Volgograd. This season Valvoline, a motor oil manufacturer, is our partner, this also had a positive impact on the engines and their performance in the extremely challenging road conditions of the rally, and the current rankings prove it.
